“Lieutenant, we have Red Skull marines active in the combat zone, coming from the north, please advise”. Saint switched his comms back to sending on squad-level. “Aleph team, concentrate fire on the T’au. Sly, Big Boss, sporadic fire on the Red Skulls to slow their advance, but keep it friendly!”

The T’au were dug in, occupying a steel tower that gave them great fire-arcs and ample cover. Team Aleph, coming in from the east, had started blasting the tower with their sniper rifle and heavy bolter, but they couldn’t get close enough to assault the position. Their mission of extracting a number of wounded Militarum command staff wasn’t going anywhere as long as those T’au snipers covered the field. Around the base of the tower they had also spotted a few blurs, indicating the presence of stealth suits guarding the approaches. A great defensive setup, but not great for the Dark Angels.

“Sarge, the Skulls are moving up, massing for an assault”.
Saint cursed. “Dareas, I wish for once that bloody auspex of yours gave us some good news”. Dareas glanced sidelong at his team leader. His expression was lost behind his helmet faceplate, but Saint could well picture the wry smile of the unflappable sergeant. “As you command, sergeant” came the reply. Saint switched vox channels quickly, “BB, Sly, fall back from assault distance, Skulls are coming in”. As he watched the two primaris marines sprint across the open ground away from their forward position, he watched a small explosion rock the distant tower. Hector had finally managed to take out the big drone floating inside it.

“Aleph team leader, mission priority, engage lethal”, came the reply from lieutenant Yrqual. The customary knot of discomfort clenched Saint’s stomach for a moment, as it always did when he was ordered to engage imperial allies with lethal force. “Team Aleph, engage with Red Skulls. No survivors.”

Saint knelt by the imperial officer hiding in the small crater and covered his head with a black bag. Ten meters further Sly put a bolt round through the head of a struggling Red Skulls reiver. Yreneas approached with another captive officer, the uniform bloody and his head covered by a similar black bag. “Take them to the extraction point Click”, said Saint as he stood to survey the area. The T’au were scared off, only their elusive Stealth suits escaping. Hector’s heavy bolter had eventually blasted every last xenos hiding in their tower. He’d run through almost all of his ammo to do so. Hector had spent his last hellfire round to blast a Red Skull heading towards one of the imperial officers.

Saint watched as Dareas walked towards him from behind a nearby building. “Dareas, how about that good news?”
“The Red Skull escaped sarge. Raincheck?”

Andere battles volgen..

Click took aim through his sniper scope at the figure shambling around on top of the building. The repulsive plague zombie didn’t do much, but its shuffling and halting movements were unpredictable and that made aiming hard. Click breathed out and squeezed the trigger, watching through his scope as half of the zombies head exploded. He waited 5 seconds, but once again, the creature just kept shambling around. He touched his microbead “Guys, they just won’t die.”
“No shit, inquisitor!” came Sly’s response, his laughing turning to a hacking cough.
“Oh, than I guess we’ll just stop stabbing this bastard” came Boon’s caustic reply.
“Really? I hadn’t noticed” called Hector.
Click felt his anger flare at that last remark; “Damn you Heck, we don’t all lug around a bloody cannon, why haven’t you killed the rest yet?” he practically screamed.
“Cut the chatter and focus on the mission objectives!” came Saint’s voice, cutting off any further remarks.

Click peeked over the wall he was hiding behind. On the tall building he could see Big Boss and Boon wrestling with a plague marine, Boon driving his combat blade into the corpulent enemy again and again while Big Boss held on to the chaos worshippers arms.
Sly had moved forward to cover the center of the plaza and his bolt rifles grenade launcher popped a frag grenade at a zombie inside the ruins, blasting in apart. Dareas was hacking at another plague marine with his chainsword, but it didn’t look like it had any effect on his adversary.
Hector moved from the ruins he’d been occupying, blasting another plague marine apart in a hail of rocket-grenades from his heavy bolter. “Click!” he called out, followed by the strained laughter of Dareas.

Saint’s voice came over the vox only seconds later; “Team Aleph, break off and rendezvous, we’ve done enough”. Click pulled his rifle from the loophole in the wall and moved off to the west, feeling very unsatisfied. 6 shots, 5 hits, no kills. Worst. Day. Ever. Except the day he had black carapace fitted. Man, that hurt

Tegen Death Guard.
